Adam Riggs is an American finance and ecommerce/new media executive and entrepreneur.
Shutterstock is the world's largest online subscription-based microstock photography site, and is based in Manhattan. Adam has been involved in every phase of Shutterstock's growth since he joined the company in December 2005, and where he remains active on the Board of directors. He was the company's first president, until April 2010, and first CFO, until September 2010. In addition to guiding Shutterstock's day-to-day operations and international expansion, Adam has designed and publicly commented on several of Shutterstock's pricing and payment plans. [1][2] Shutterstock's library has grown from 30,000 royalty-free stock images in 2003 to over 13 million as of September 2010. [3] The company has customers in and sources visual content from nearly every country worldwide.
Adam was a professional proprietary derivatives trader for nine years, from 1997 through 2005. Focusing on index arbitrage, he actively traded futures contracts, ETFs, and stocks as a member of both the American Stock Exchange and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
Prior to his trading career, Adam did econometric research on securities fraud and antitrust at the NERA division of Marsh & McLennan, the insurance giant.
Adam graduated from Reed College in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.
